9:11 pm - Snow makes frozen corn
It was supposed to rain all day today. Instead we got snow... on March 30th! I just had to make sure this will never be forgotten, hence the post (also, I had to prove the people who claim I only post once every two years wrong). What do you do on a day like that? You deep-clean and re-arrange the kitchen, of course.

At least I feel somewhat accomplished.

12:52 am - Ta!
I can't belive it's been over two years since I last posted. Time flies when you are stuck in the grinder.

In any case, had two beers tonight and am ready for bed at 9:30.

I happened across this blog and thought the dude was joking. Apparently it's for real. What is next, I wonder.

6:56 pm - Daily Summary
Today I have been:

  1. strung up by my son and led around the apartment on a leash.

  2. munching on julival's big sausage. It is delicious.

  3. reading The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I'm glad all net proceeds from the sale goes to charity.

when you scrub the dog shit off your wife's tennis shoe before going to bed.

Good night.

11:16 am - To Do List
So, four days off work. I've got stuff I need to do:

  1. Pay bills

  2. File away all the paperwork on my desk

  3. Update our economy spreadsheet (C will love that!)

  4. Find a new account to roll over the 401k from my old job into

  5. Fill in form for 401k at my new job

  6. Get Christmas card list up do date

  7. Write long-ass e-mail to the Swedes about what's been going on lately

  8. Finish my current read (Worldwired by Elizabeth Bear)

Happy Turkey!

9:06 am - What's wrong with people?
Seriously, what part of "wild animal" is it that you don't understand:

Panda Love

And now I need to get ready and go rent a carpet steamer. The person who invented wall-to-wall carpeting is no. 1 on my hit list.

So, should I rant about the joys of medical insurance in America?

Didn't think so.

Should I go to bed instead?

That would be the wise thing to do, yes.

Do I have anything to say?

Not really.

Should I just delete this crap instead of posting it?

Am I going to?

Am I obnoxious?

Can't help it.

Dschinghis Khan

Good night, good fight!

10:45 pm - Insane
I haven't read a single word in my book since last Friday!

Driving to work really sucks that way. On the other hand, it still hasn't taken me over 30 minutes to get to/from work, and I've had to drive in the middle of rush hour traffic.

7:54 pm - Car update
Today I brought Carrie and had her try the Mazda as well. Then we hit the Toyota dealer and drove the Corolla. Out of the three cars I thought the Mazda was the nicest one to drive, but it's a close call. On the other hand, the Toyota has a slightly better mileage and comes with more "extras". Funny story. The Mazda sales guy told us that Toyotas drop in value quicker than Mazdas, while the Toyota dealer told us that Mazdas drop quicker than Toyotas and Hondas.

Anyway, I think the Civic is out of the race. It's the most expensive and we really don't like the dealership. The Toyota dealer is no haggle, so we already have the numbers from them. I think I'm going to take that over to Mazda and see what they can offer me, then make a decision.

Right now I need to go put a boy to bed, then cry over what a bad maid I am (this apartment is perfect for hog breeding) and go to bed. Tomorrow I can hopefully get some rest at work.

ETA: I completely forgot my manners. Thanks for the advice in the comments to the previous post. Heather, I did ask the guy at Mazda about the tires and he promised it's an issue only with the Protege.

10:48 pm - Batmobile
So, I need a commuter car. What do you think - Honda Civic, Mazda 3, or Toyota Corolla? I've tested the Civic and the Mazda 3 and am leaning towards Mazda.

9:51 pm - For the Swede(s) out there
Well Jennie, that YouTube video of Ooa Hela Natten you posted was a big hit with Erik. He's been going "Ao Ao-ao-ao" all day. I'm so proud.

YouTube is absolutely fabulous for finding songs from back when I was young. Listening to the music and looking at the videos I have to say it's a wonder that I turned out as (close to) normal as I did. Here are some gems:

Secret Service - they sure don't make music like this anymore. And the hair styles!

Unfortunately there are no fashion statements in this one, but I just can't skip a band that is named after a potato - Magnum Bonum.

And this one is only for those with a true blue-and-yellow heart, who are strong enough to survive watching the Eurovision Song Contest - Herreys.

Finally, I have proof that you can find ANYTHING on YouTube. I thought that the world had forgotten Paul Paljett, but was delighted to see that I was wrong.

*sighs contently*

10:44 pm - Jag ska ooa hela natten
Hmm, I guess I lost my momentum. Posting six days in a row was too good to be true.

So, I got a shiny new passport today. Now I can really abuse my status as American citizen and be obnoxious all over the world. Lovely!

Apparently my typing was so unusual that C had to come running out of the bathroom to check what was going on. She sure keeps an eye on me, doesn't she? Her tongue is a clear frosting pink tonight, by the way. Next week we are going to purge this apartment of sugar!

So, is anyone here involved in the "Owned" game on Facebook? A work buddy of mine bought me for $1 and then sold me to a lesbian woman in Texas. I'm not quite sure what the deep meaning is here. Do I even want to know?

And now for something completely different - bed time.

10:00 am - Saturday!
1. Thanks! And a special thank you to "snookums" for making my life so much easier. You are my hero!

2. I'm not coming down with a cold. The reason I was feeling hot and fevery last night was tiredness and the fact that the A/C was off.

3. Keep your fingers crossed for Rögle BK today. Very important game coming up for them. My fingers are going white from the strain.

8:45 pm - Memory
It's official, 1.25 GB of RAM is a LOT faster than 256 MB. I believe that was 50 bucks well invested, though the installation gave me a few more grey hairs. It wasn't until I had re-read the part of the FAQ about how you have to apply a significant amount of pressure to make the memory snap in place that I finally grew bold enough to grunt "Mohandas" and press the sucker down with all my might. Yeah baby. I'm hoping that from now on I won't have to curse every time I try to run more than two programs in parallel on this ancient desktop from 2004. Amazing how fast things grow old in this day and age.

C has been in Oregon for two full days and she hasn't gone insane yet, despite being around her family 24/7. Let's hope she'll come home in one piece. If I hadn't forgotten to buy wine today I would drink to that. Tomorrow, tomorrow. Erik is of course having a blast with his cousins and could only spare two minutes to talk to his old man on the phone.

In other news, the other day C convinced me to buy ankle length white socks instead of the regular length. Apparently Americans have some kind of normal length sock phobia (NLSP) unless you're wearing pants to cover up your legs. So far I am not impressed.
1. They slip around on my foot like a bar of soap.
2. They can only be used in the summer.
3. My feet look like they belong on Mickey Mouse.

The things I put up with to please my wife.

12:23 pm - Hmpf
So, what do you call it when the following sequence of events occur:
1. You give your son the June commuter ticket before leaving the house in the morning, think it's July 1st today.
2. You miss the bus since you have to run back and get the right ticket after the light bulb finally comes on.
3. You make your wife drive you down to the train station so you can catch your train anyway.
4. Your regular train ends up being delayed an hour.

Honey, don't expect me home at the normal time tonight...

7:24 am - Lights, camera, action
Last night I thought I'd have to pay $50 for gas for the first time, but it stopped ticking at $49.86. I can't believe the price went up 8 cents in less than a day. Hopefully it will be down a bit when November comes around. Still, last time I checked it was $8.20/gallon back home. Things could be worse.

Speaking of November, I finally got my lazy ass over to MVA to update my driver's license and register to vote yesterday. I'm ready to do my democratic duty now.

I'm glad there was no new BSG episode last night, because I was in bed by 9:30. After listening to C snore for an hour I actually managed to fall asleep and get some rest. I would have preferred not to be woken up by my dear son at 5:40 though. Something is not right with the world when there is no difference between weeknights and weekend nights.

Three day weekend! Svischt!

9:05 pm - Alive and Kicking
Mr. E, as the water in the tub is slowly drained away and the lower parts of his body become visible:
Wiener, how you doin'?

And now for something completely different:
Does anyone else find it weird to see a Chinese restaurant named "Mayflower"? I liked Tony's Wang... er, Tony Wang's better.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to the Internet. Don't mind me.
